The place was majestic, like it was right out of a dream or better yet a fae land.
The rare species of flowers were in full bloom and you could see as rare kinds of b.u.t.terflies were wandering the Garden.
But it wasn't the greenery that was the source of the magnificent sight in front of her. It was the crystal-clear, middle-sized lake.
Unlike any other rich Family, they didn't have koi fish in their man-made lake. Instead, they had supercilious swans.
Not one kind they had different kinds of swans: Mute Swan, Tundra Swan, and Mute Swans.
They radiated arrogance and gracefully took pride in their feathers.
It was like the clouds were spread on the lake with all the white swans swimming in it as graciously as dancers.
People had to say Old Madam Li had taste and along with taste she was adorned with a monumental ego.
Everything in the Mansion was unique, rare, and sophisticatedly designed.
It was obvious Old Madam Li didn't like having things like everyone has them.
She took pride in having the best, the rarest, and things not easy to come by.
Tearing her eyes away from swans bathing Lei Xinyi saw a staged rosegold Gazebo with climbers curled around its pillars.
There were three Victorian-style gold sofas with crimson red cushions.
She couldn't be more grateful to the fates, the crimson red cushions will hide her blood that was leaking out of the b.u.t.terfly st.i.tches.
Although whatever Li Yuan had fed her dulled her senses and she couldn't feel the pain as she was feeling before, she was still feeling slightly dizzy.
The biggest sofa was where Old Madam Li was already seated with her spine straight and nose in the air.
The other two seats were also around the Table in between, they were smaller and less elegant than her sofa.
It was more than obvious that Old Madam Li was a foreigner but except her looks, nothing gave that away.
She sure did efforts to blend in. She didn't even have an accent although Italians have a strong accent that is very hard to get rid of.
Lei Xinyi subtly rolled her eyes, the woman went out of her way to make people feel inferior. Such a b*tchy old sn.o.b!
And people would a.s.sume her arrogance would have rusted by now but no she sure kept it well preserved! Lei Xinyi snickered at her thoughts.
Lei Xinyi made her way to the Gazebo where Madam Li and Old madam Li was already seated.
Taking the hint from their glares and ugly frowns, Lei Xinyi knew she wasn't welcomed to share a seat with either woman so she took the empty seat.
Unlike before she wasn't scared sh*tless simple because there was no threat here.
These women could only balance their wait in pencil heels.
They played dirty. Combat wasn't something any of them knew.
Though Old Master Li was another story. These women were nothing but puppets of chauvinists of society, no matter how much power they wielded they were pathetic in her eyes.
A maid came forward to serve chrysanthemums tea but only poured tea in two cups and handed one to Old Madam Li and the other to Madam Li.
Old Madam Li brought her cup to her lips and looked at Lei Xinyi with a raised brow, daring and provoking her at the same time.
Lei Xinyi didn't show an ounce of emotion but sneered inwardly. The woman truly knew how to subtly humiliate people!
But she wasn't an idiot, she knew better than to be caught in bored old woman's petty games.
Lei Xinyi kept a forced smile on her lips but didn't say. Though she was starving. Li Yuan didn't let her do her lunch then dragged her for hours with no food and now she was famished!
Though she was a glutton but she wasn't some scrawny-starved homeless. She had enough pride to die reigning her hunger than asking them for it!
Old Madam Li kept her cup on the table without a sound and turned to her sharply.
"I am not going to beat around the bush so I would suggest you leave my Grandson with your dignity still intact while I am being nice." She harshly spoke without a trace of anything warmth.
Lei Xinyi looked at her shocked. She thought the woman was going to not be direct and she would just brush aside the hints and get over with the evening.
Lei Xinyi opened her mouth to something when Old Madam Li waved her hand and a maid placed two thick folders on her couch.
"The thicker folder of the two has the names and short details of women my Grandson had hooked up with and the other folders are the marriage proposals we have received." Old Madam Li calmly spoke and then smirked her way.
Lei Xinyi didn't interrupt her rant, she too wanted to know where this was going.
Old Madam Li leaned closer to her, "Point at any one of them and they are a hundred times better than you. Truth to be told you were used. Li Yuan will not marry you or even if he does that will not change him."
She didn't even care the words she was saying were about her Grandson and that they were hurtful to say to a lover or fiancé.
Old Madam Li shook her head with a smug expression as if calling on Lei Xinyi on her stupidity.
"You are naive to even think that he would. How many times had he cheated on you over the years? And if you think marriage will stop it then you are delusional!"
She picked up her teacup again and sipped, "The Li men have many qualities but fidelity is not one of them. Any sane woman would walk out of such a sham marriage!"
Lei Xinyi smirked at the woman, "So why haven't you?"
Old Madam Li's face looked like she had been slapped that instant. She sure wasn't expecting a comeback.
In fact, she was waiting for the young to start wailing any minute now.
But listening to her taunt Old Madan Li whole face turned beet red from the fury churning in her.
n.o.body had ever said that on her face! Her husband's infidelity was world-famous but n.o.body ever voice a thing about it.
"I love my husband! He was the father of my dead son! Who the h.e.l.l are you, insolent la.s.s..."
Before Old Madam Li could go on Lei Xinyi cut her off, "Same reason. I love him too and if I can have a piece of his heart, I don't mind sharing him."
Lei Xinyi cringed inwardly at her own words. It was some words she caught on a sappy drama.
Infuriated, by the direct insult, Old Madam Li stood up from her seat...
